Jimmy Kimmel Gives Update on Son Billy’s Health as He Celebrates His 8th Birthday

Jimmy Kimmel is giving an update on his son as he celebrates a special day.
On Monday, April 21, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host, 57, shared a photo on Instagram as he paid tribute to his younger son, Billy, on his 8th birthday. In the photo, the birthday boy could be seen eating an ice cream sundae and giving a soft smile as his dad snapped his photo.
“Today is Billy’s 8th birthday. He is very healthy and strong thanks to the doctors, nurses, therapists, and staff at @ChildrensLA & @CedarsSinai and to those of you who have sent prayers, well wishes and donations through the years,” Kimmel said, giving an update on his son, who was born in 2017 with a congenital heart disease. “If you can, please make a gift of $8 to support children who need medical care, the link is in my bio. THANK YOU! .”
Kimmel shares son Billy and daughter Jane, 10, with wife Molly McNearney, as well as daughter Katie, 33, and son Kevin, 31, with his first wife, Gina Maddy.
In August, the comedian appeared on an episode of the iHeartPodcast Politickin’ with hosts Gavin Newsom, Marshawn Lynch and Doug Hendrickson, where he shared some candid updates on his son.
After noting that Billy is “doing great” following his third open heart surgery last May, Kimmel proceeded to joke that his son is a “weird kid.”
“He’s constantly squeezing his mother’s ass,” he shared with a laugh. “He says, ‘It’s so juicy.'”
Speaking about Billy’s health on the podcast, Kimmel said, “You’d never know other than the scar on his chest” that Billy had the surgery.
“He’s a very funny kid, he’s totally fine now. Hopefully he’ll never have to have another surgery of any kind thanks to the Children’s Hospital in L.A., which is a great hospital,” he added.
In May 2024, Kimmel posted a snap of Billy smiling in a hospital bed as he shared that his son had successfully undergone his third open heart surgery.
“This weekend, our boy Billy had his third (of three, we hope) open heart surgery,” he wrote at the time, calling it a “humbling experience.”
We went into this experience with a lot of optimism and nearly as much fear and came out with a new valve inside a happy, healthy kid,” Kimmel continued, before thanking medical staff, strangers, family and friends.
The father of four added, “Thank you to my wife Molly for being stronger than is reasonable for any Mom to be and Billy, you are the toughest (and funniest) 7 year-old we know.”
