Paula Badosa announces break-up with Tsitsipas
Paula Badosa announced through her Instagram stories that she and Stefanos Tsitsipas have ended their relationship. The stylish tennis duo decided to part ways after a year of openly sharing their relationship through social media.
Badosa and Tsitsipas began dating officially in May 2023, just before the start of the Roland Garros tournament. Although Badosa had to withdraw from the competition due to a back injury, she remained in Paris to support Tsitsipas from the stands, a move that confirmed their status as a couple.
“After careful consideration and many cherished moments together, Stefanos and I have decided to amicably part ways,” Badosa said on Instagram.
“We have shared a journey filled with love and learning, and it is as friends with immense mutual respect that we now choose to move forward on our own paths.”
The relationship ended before the start of the Mutua Madrid Open, a combined event where both arrived as singles.
Badosa, who has slipped to the 126th position in the WTA rankings, is eager to regain lost ground. As part of her comeback efforts, she has reunited with her physical trainer, David Antona.
Tsitsipas has also faced challenges, having dropped out of the top 10 for the first time in five years in February.
Absence in Recent Tournaments
The last time Badosa and Tsitsipas were seen together at a tournament was during the Miami Open.
Afterwards, they embarked on separate paths. Badosa was notably absent in Monte Carlo, where Tsitsipas won the title, and also missed the Barcelona tournament where Tsitsipas reached the final against Casper Ruud.
Her absence was particularly striking given that the couple had previously been inseparable.
Just last year, Badosa traveled from Sevilla to Turin hours after Spain’s participation in the Billie Jean King Cup ended, to support her boyfriend at the ATP Finals.
The breakup of Badosa and Tsitsipas marks the end of one of tennis’s most glamorous pairings, leaving fans reflecting on the fleeting nature of personal relationships in the high-pressure world of professional sports.
