Roger Goodell cools Harrison Butker controversy after homophobic and sexist speech
With the return to NFL practices, the Kansas City Chiefs, who have had a very tough offseason, have been bombarded with questions about the latest controversy plaguing the team, a speech given by their kicker, Harrison Butker, at a college graduation.
Butker gave a speech with clear homophobic and sexist sentiments during Benedictine College’s graduation ceremony, which has earned him huge criticism from many sectors, mainly women in the field.
Roger Goodell’s words
The controversy reached the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, who was asked what he thought about Butker’s comments, to which he was quite diplomatic and implied that there would be no sanction for the Chiefs kicker.
Everything seems to indicate that Butker’s controversy is over, as far as the NFL and his Chiefs teammates are concerned, since both coach Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes did not give much importance to his words and prefer to turn the page towards next season.
